Protect yourself from the flu and what to do if you feel unwell
Make an appointment at your GP surgery to get the vaccination now.
It’s offered free to ‘at risk groups’ which you can find out about here.
The effects of flu can be really serious and lay you low for days, so make sure you get as much protection as you can. You also risk spreading illness to friends and family which will make you very unpopular!
Lots of pharmacies in Buckinghamshire are offering the FREE NHS flu jab too for eligible patients. So ask at your local pharmacy and book now.
Some of them do charge a fee (if you are not eligible for FREE NHS flu jab) and you may have to book a slot, so make sure to check with your local one first.
You can find out more information here on the NHS Choices site or ask at your pharmacy or doctors surgery.
What if I do start to feel unwell?
If you are normally fit and well, then the best thing you can do is drink plenty of fluids and try not to over exert yourself. The flu will run its course naturally and clear up on its own.
If you begin to feel much worse you can always call 111 to get further advice, as an unnecessary trip to the doctors may not be of much help and you could be spreading your flu bug!
