The Big Library Read is back!

When life gets your goat, use your library card.

Jennifer McGaha’s debut memoir, Flat Broke with Two Goats, has been selected for the next Big Library Read, the world’s largest digital book club.

From Monday 2 April through to Monday 16 April, Buckinghamshire Library users will be able to borrow the eBook or audiobook format of the title with no wait lists or holds. Readers can take part in the two-week program by visiting buckinghamshire.overdrive.com or by downloading the Libby app

Flat Broke with Two Goats is told with bold wit, unflinching honesty and a firm foot in the traditions of Appalachia. A true story that started as a last-ditch effort to settle debts, it transparently reveals the joys and challenges of overcoming unexpected life-altering events. Flat Broke with Two Goats is a fearlessly written memoir that reminds readers to not take themselves too seriously and to always remember to laugh, no matter their situation.

"Flat Broke is about monumental financial troubles, staggering life changes and a marriage stretched to its very limit,” McGaha said. “It is also about unruly dogs, ladies of bluegrass laying hens and the ins and outs of goat dating. But it is about more than that. It is about home and family and the journeys we take to find our way back to ourselves when we are lost."
