Having a clear out over Easter?
Now spring is here, thoughts turn to getting the home and garden ready for the long days of summer. If you're having a clear-out, here are some tips on disposing of your rubbish and unwanted things.
If things are in good condition, there's a good chance someone else will want them, and the items will have a continuing life rather than becoming waste. Wycombe (High Heavens) and Aston Clinton household recycling centres have re-use shops that accept many items; otherwise you could donate them to a local charity or pass them to a new owner via social media or a specialist website.

If you've things to dispose of but aren't sure whether they're recyclable, the Waste Wizard is an excellent online tool for checking up on how to dispose of something locally to you. Go to www.recycleforbuckinghamshire.co.uk/waste-wizard

Remember that household recycling centres can get quite busy at this time of year, especially when the weather is good. To avoid queuing, check the site webcam first to see how busy it is. www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/waste-and-recycling/household-recycling-centres
If you decide that you'd rather hire someone to take your rubbish away and dispose of it properly, remember to use the SCRAP Fly Tipping code to check that the person or firm you're using is bona fide. It's part of your duty of care to help prevent illegal dumping.
