It's Elmer Day!

Everyone’s favourite patchwork elephant turns 30 on Saturday 25 May. Elmer day is a national celebration of the popular children's character, with hundreds of events taking place in bookshops and libraries across the country.

Created by David Mckee, Elmer was first published by Anderson Press in 1989. Since then, Elmer's iconic patchwork and playful character have made him a firm favourite in millions of households across the world. Elmer encourages children to accept other's differences and practice tolerance and kindness.

Buckinghamshire libraries have many Elmer books available to borrow and reserve. Take a look here
