About 30 hours funded childcare

30 hours funded childcare aims to help families with 3 or 4 year olds start back to work or to continue or extend their working pattern by increasing the funded childcare hours from 15 to 30 per week term time. 30 hours can be used at participating:

  • Childminders
  • Day Nurseries
  • Independent School Nurseries
  • Local Authority Nursery Schools or Schools with a Nursery Class
  • Pre-Schools and Nursery Schools

Tax-Free Childcare

If you're a working parent with a child or children under 12 (or under 17 for disabled children), you can open an online account to pay for registered childcare. This is called Tax-Free Childcare (TFC). Tax-Free Childcare is for working families, including the self-employed, and for every £8 you pay in the government will add an extra £2 (up to £2,000 per child per year). To begin the sign up process, start by confirming your eligibility on the Childcare Choices website.
